Mini Session Guide: Everything You Need to Know (and Then Some)
A Quick Note About This Guide
We’re so glad you’re here—and we seriously can’t wait to hang out with your crew during your mini session. Whether it’s your first time in front of our cameras or you’ve been with us since the beginning, we want you to know: we don’t take this lightly.
Now, if you're feeling a little nervous… totally normal. We’re photographers, and we still get weird when we’re in front of the lens. So if your kid won’t smile, your partner would rather be at home watching football, or your dog thinks the camera is a chew toy—breathe. We’ve got you. Even in those moments, you make great memories (see to the left!)
Over the years, we’ve learned what works, what matters, and what to let go of. That’s why we do this. So you’ll always have the real stuff—giggles, snuggles, messy hair, and all.
In our time together, we’ll laugh, snap, guide, and work our magic so you walk away with images that’ll live on long after the season changes.
To make the most of your session, we’ve put together this little guide packed with tips—what to wear, how to prep your crew, what to expect, what happens if the sky opens up and it pours… everything we get asked (and then some).
Let’s make some magic.

How the Session Works
What’s included?
20-minute session
20 high-res edited images
Private gallery
Add-ons: We love when you bring your pet and your big family along too, but know there may be additional fees associated with bringing your favorite furry friend or groups with 6+ people
Will we start on time?
Yes—every session is booked back-to-back with a small buffer, so we’ll need to stay on schedule. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early so you're not rushed.
Outfit & Prep Tips
What should we wear?
Start with neutrals, then add soft, muted tones or warm fall colors. Aim for coordinating, not matching. Avoid logos, neon, and too much pattern. Textures and layers photograph beautifully.
Tips for the Ladies
Flowy dresses, cardigans, boots, soft knits, and flattering silhouettes are all great. Add a few accessories if you want to elevate things, but don’t overthink it.
Tips for the Guys
Simple layers work well: henleys, solid button-downs, vests, or pullovers. Stick to neutral or earthy tones. Clean shoes matter more than you think.
Tips for the Kids
Comfort first. If your kid hates itchy sweaters or stiff collars, it’ll show. Choose something that feels good and photographs well. Bonus tip: bring backup outfits just in case.
Bringing a pet?
Amazing. We love pets. Please bring a leash, some treats, and someone to help wrangle them if needed. It’s best to get pet shots first, then hand them off to a helper so you can focus.
Helping Everyone Have a Great Experience
How can we prep our kids?
Hype it up. Let them know it’ll be fun and fast. Bring a favorite snack or toy. And remember—kids don’t have to be perfect. Some of the best images come from real, unscripted moments.
Will you pose us?
We’ll gently guide you, but we’re not fans of stiff or forced. We want you to interact naturally—laugh, hug, play, look at each other. We’ll help you feel comfortable and confident.
What if we're awkward in front of the camera?
Join the club. We’re professional camera-shy people, too—and that’s why we’ve gotten so good at helping others feel relaxed and natural.
Delivery, Ownership & Editing
When will we get our photos?
Expect your gallery within 2-3 weeks—sometimes sooner.
Will the images be watermarked?
Nope. You’ll receive clean, high-res images, ready for printing or sharing.
How are the photos delivered?
Through an online gallery. You'll be able to download them straight to your phone or computer.
Logistics & Weather
What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
If we’re shooting indoors, no plans will change since we’re covered (literally). But if we’re outdoors and we get rained out or there are high winds (20mph+), we’ll reschedule. If anything out of our control comes up, we’ll be in touch with a game plan.
Can we reschedule?
Mini sessions are non-refundable and time-sensitive, but if we have an emergency or weather issue, we’ll work with you to find a solution.
